Transport Department Clarifies No Mandatory Installation of Embossed Number Plates From 1 Ashwin

Aug 26, Kathmandu - The embossed number plate will also be installed at a time that suits you.

The Department of Transport Management has issued a notice today stating that it is not mandatory to install embossed numbers from 1 Ashwin. The department has stated in the notice that no action will be taken even if the embossed number is not installed from 1 Ashwin.

"It has been decided to gradually install embossed number plates on all government, private and public vehicles, but there has been confusion that if they are not installed from 1 Ashwin 2082, they will be subject to immediate fines or action, and it is hereby clarified that no penalty/fine will be imposed immediately," the department said in a notice.

Similarly, the department has stated that there is no obstacle to having embossed numbers in English. “The Government of Nepal has decided to use the English script as mentioned in the agreement on language on 2081.06.06, and in the current situation, it is clear that the English script is also used in driving licenses, passports, citizenship cards, national identity cards, etc.,” the department has stated.
