Aug 26, Kathmandu - Tribhuvan University is set to adjust the fees of four departments.
The university has agreed to adjust the fees after Akhil Revolutionary, a sister organization of the CPN (Maoist Center), held a continuous sit-in at the Vice-Chancellor's office.
An agreement has been reached between Tribhuvan University and the Akhil Revolutionary to adjust the fees of 4 departments under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences that have been promoted to the central department.
A four-point agreement was reached on Tuesday between student leaders of the Akhil Revolutionary Tribhuvan University District Committee, which is in protest, and Bishnu Prasad Khanal, Executive Director of the Monitoring Directorate on behalf of Tribhuvan University.
It has been agreed to adjust the fees for the programs of International Relations and Diplomacy, Conflict and Peace Development Studies, Social Work, and Gender Studies.
Earlier, these programs were run under the self-sufficient program (with all expenses borne by the students' fees). Although these departments were brought under the Central Department of TU, the Akhil Revolutionary movement was launched after the fees were not adjusted.
An agreement has been reached between Tribhuvan University and the Akhil Revolutionary Movement to reduce the current fee to Rs 110,000. This fee adjustment will be implemented from the second semester onwards. Earlier, the fee was Rs 180,000.
After Akhil Revolutionary continued to hold a sit-in, TU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal had said that the fees would be adjusted after talks with the students.
Akhil Revolutionary has suspended the protest that has been going on for 34 days with the fee adjustment agreement.
