Case Filed Against Shah Rukh And Deepika

Aug 31, Kathmandu - An FIR has been registered against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and actress Deepika Padukone in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, India. They have been accused of misleadingly promoting substandard vehicles.

They are brand ambassadors of Hyundai Motors' Alcazar model. The FIR was registered based on a consumer complaint regarding the same model.

The application for registration of the FIR was filed by local lawyer Kirti Singh. According to Singh, he purchased a Hyundai Alcazar vehicle for Rs 23.97 lakh on June 14, 2022. He said that he took a partial loan from HDB Financial Services to purchase the vehicle and paid the remaining amount in cash.

He alleged that after using the vehicle, problems such as not picking up speed when trying to overtake on the highway, only the RPM increased, and the odometer malfunctioned. He claims that after six to seven months, the problems with the vehicle became more complex.

The complaint filed by Singh also includes the names of Hyundai's Managing Director Anso Kim, COO Tarun Garg, as well as local dealers and showroom owners.

A case was registered at the Mathura Gate Police Station after the Bharatpur District Court ordered the registration of an FIR on the complaint. The police office has reportedly started a preliminary investigation into the incident.

Lawyer Singh said he felt cheated because Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, who were used in the car's advertisements, provided misleading information to consumers. They have filed a complaint alleging serious consumer fraud by creating the illusion of quality vehicles and have demanded legal action.
