Teachers' Federation Stages Sit-in at RSP Party Office

Sep 02, Kathmandu - The Nepal Teachers' Federation has staged a sit-in at the party office of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, demanding amendments to the proposed School Education Bill.

The Federation is staging a sit-in at the RSP office as part of the first phase of the movement, demanding that the education bill be amended as per the previous agreement between the Federation and the government. The Federation will continue the sit-in program until Bhadra 20. The Federation has put forward a demand that 75 percent of temporary teacher posts should be filled through internal competition and 25 percent through open recruitment.

However, the committee has sent the bill to the House of Representatives with a provision that 60 per cent of the posts will be filled internally and 40 per cent will be open. The federation has protested saying that the posts and salaries of school employees are not guaranteed, the posts and service facilities of kindergarten teachers are not guaranteed, and the provision of services for institutional school teachers and an impractical transfer system has been introduced.
