Sep 05, Kathmandu - The popular social media platform X (Twitter) has come into contact with the government over its decision to shut down unlisted social media platforms. An official correspondence has been sent from Twitter's Singapore office to the Ministry of Communications.

Gajendra Thakur, spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications, confirmed the receipt of the email on Twitter today. According to Thakur, the email from Singapore, in the name of Mark, asked about the registration process and required documents. He informed that a reply was sent as soon as the email was received.

"We have already sent a reply with details of the necessary documents," he said.

He said that they will list the documents immediately after receiving them. Thakur informed that there has been no official correspondence from Facebook.

“Facebook may have contacted someone personally, but we haven’t received anything officially,” he said.

Nepal’s own platform 'Hamro Patro' provided all the documents for registration yesterday. Apart from that, no other social media platforms have been contacted.
