Consensus Reached on Appointing Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as Interim Prime Minister

Sep 12, Kathmandu - A consensus has been reached among political parties to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the interim Prime Minister. President Ram Chandra Paudel and Chief of Army General Ashik Raj Sigdel held discussions with leaders from all parties to finalize the agreement.

Sources close to the President indicated that President Paudel consulted with key figures including the Speaker of the House, constitutional experts, former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

"After discussions with all parties, an agreement has been reached to appoint her as Prime Minister. Since the demand for Gen-Z intervention was also based on this, no one has opposed her name. However, the matter of dissolving the Parliament has not been resolved," said a senior official involved in the talks.

President Poudel is not in favor of dissolving the Parliament. However, representatives of Gen-Z and Karki maintain that the process of selecting a new Prime Minister cannot proceed without the dissolution of Parliament, according to sources.
