Sep 12, Kathmandu - Russia's first AI-powered (autonomous) urban rail service was officially launched in Moscow on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the modernization of public transport in Russia, the Russian government's official website confirmed.
This pioneering project is a key part of Moscow’s transport development strategy for 2030. The city plans to equip more than 300 urban trams with autonomous technology by 2030, with the goal of these vehicles accounting for 90 percent of the total by 2035.
According to TVBricks, the newly introduced AI-powered (autonomous) train is capable of maintaining strict adherence to all schedules, such as independently stopping at stops and opening doors, obeying traffic signals, allowing pedestrians to cross the road, and automatically setting train tracks. Since May 2024, the electric train has completed more than eight thousand kilometers of rigorous testing without any traffic violations. This demonstrates the reliability and safety of the automated system.
