Sep 13, Kathmandu - The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has called the appointment of Prime Minister Sushila Karki as Prime Minister an unconstitutional provision.

The FNJ has deemed the approval of the recommendation for the dissolution of Parliament by the unconstitutionally appointed Prime Minister an insult to public opinion.

"Yesterday, the President appointed the Prime Minister contrary to the provisions of the Constitution. The Prime Minister's recommendation to dissolve the House of Representatives made at midnight was upheld," said a statement issued by the Federation's General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal. "This has insulted public opinion. The Federation strongly condemns and condemns this undemocratic and unconstitutional step."

The Federation says that the unconstitutional step will harm the achievements of the democratic system, constitutional supremacy, civil rights, human rights, freedom of the press and expression, as well as the republic, federalism, and inclusiveness organized by the Constitution.

The federation has said, "The federation calls on all parties to move forward firmly to protect the current constitution and the achievements made under it."
