Sep 26, Kathmandu - The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has issued a warning to airlines and service providers, requesting them not to raise airfares during major festivals such as Dashain and Tihar. According to Gyanendra Bhul, Information Officer at the CAAN, all service providers have been advised to refrain from increasing ticket prices during the festive season to ensure travelers are not burdened.
Speaking to the Nepal News Agency on Friday, Bhul emphasized that considering the current difficult circumstances in the country, the government has instructed airlines to sell tickets below the maximum permissible prices set by law, thereby providing relief to travellers.
He explained that the law regulates the minimum and maximum prices for air tickets. Airlines are instructed to sell tickets at prices lower than the maximum limit, ensuring affordability.
The authority has also arranged additional flights during the festival period to facilitate travellers. Currently, approximately 10,000 passengers undertake domestic flights daily in Nepal.
Bhul further noted that during peak times like Dashain and Tihar, when daily passenger numbers can reach up to 18,000, extra flights have been scheduled to meet the increased demand.
