Sep 27, Kathmandu - Sudan Gurung, a young leader who emerged from the ‘Gen-Z’ movement, has announced his candidacy in the upcoming general elections scheduled for Falgun.
He pledged that his movement would fight to the end to form a people’s government. In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, Gurung said that his group is mobilizing supporters across the country by agitating for change instead of traditional political parties.
“They have dragged us into politics,” he said, commenting on the government of the ‘selfish’ and ‘corrupt’ former politicians. “If they want politics, that’s what they will get. We will stand in the next election, because we will not back down now.”
Gurung said that the movement’s volunteers are forming legal and media committees. Gurung said that they are collecting policy demands from across the country through platforms such as Discord and Instagram, which were used in the protests.
