Sep 29, Kathmandu - Based on information that some suspicious items may be found, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has raided some places, including the house of Bhushan Rana, a relative of Congress chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba.
The CIB raided 4/5 different places in the valley on Sunday afternoon. According to CIB AIG Manoj KC, some houses were searched after receiving some information for investigation.
In the process, the house of Rana, who is also the brother of outgoing Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, was also raided.
"Yesterday, we raided 4-5 places. The raids were conducted after receiving information that something was found," said KC. The police have not disclosed all the places raided.
When the police reached Bhushan's house in Jawalakhel, he was not at home.
'He (Bhushan Rana) was not at home,' a police source said, 'We searched some suspicious items.'
However, a police officer says that since the matter is under investigation, it is not possible to reveal what was seized.
Bhushan used to deal with most of the deals made by the outgoing Foreign Minister Rana. The police had received information that he was deployed as a representative.
Earlier too, Bhushan had been involved in controversies over various contracts.
During the Gen-Z movement on the 23rd and 24th, Deuba's residence in Budhanilkantha was set on fire. The Department of Money Laundering is investigating the discovery of burnt notes from Deuba's house during the arson.
The current government has returned this department, which was under the control of outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, to the ministry.
Meanwhile, there is widespread interest in the raid on the house of Bhushan, a close relative of Deuba.
