Sep 30, Kathmandu - Afghanistan was without internet and mobile phone service for a second day on Tuesday after Taliban authorities shut down the fiber optic network.
The Taliban began cutting off high-speed internet connections in some provinces earlier this month, saying they would block voice calls. By Monday night, mobile signals and internet service had gradually weakened to below one percent of normal levels, according to internet watchdog Netblocks.
This is the first major nationwide communication disruption since the Taliban came to power in 2021.
