Sep 30, Kathmandu - US President Donald Trump is set to address a rare meeting of hundreds of senior US military officers at Quantico near Washington on Tuesday. No official reason for the unusual gathering has been made public.

The US military is currently facing controversies at home and abroad. President Trump has deployed troops to two Democratic cities and ordered deadly raids on small, alleged drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean.

Since taking office, he has also ordered strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and Tehran-backed Yemeni rebels.

The White House has scheduled the 79-year-old Republican president’s event, titled “Remarks to the War Department,” for 9 a.m. (1300 GMT).
