Over 2,300 Injured, 76 Dead in Nationwide 'Gen-Z' Protests Against Corruption

Oct 01, Kathmandu - The government has confirmed that 2,316 people injured during the nationwide 'Gen-Z' protests, which took place on Bhadra 23 and 24, received treatment at various health facilities.

The protests were initiated by the Gen-Z generation against perceived corruption and mismanagement across the country. The demonstrations led to widespread violence, including clashes, vandalism, and arson in several locations, ultimately resulting in the deaths of 76 people.

Around 83 hospitals across the country had treated the injured protesters at the start of the movement.

Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, provided an update on the treatment status. He noted that some injured individuals required hospitalization and surgery, while others were given minor treatment. 

Around 2,316 injured individuals received care from health institutions.

Similarly, 2,229 people have been discharged and returned home whereas, 49 people who were injured died either while on they way to hospital or while undergoing treatment.

Dr. Budhathoki confirmed that injured protesters continue to receive treatment across the country.

He informed that 38 injured are undergoing treatment across 10 different hospitals.
