Oct 01, Kathmandu - The Department of Transport Management has issued a warning that it will revoke the route permits of public transport operators found to be charging passengers more than the legally stipulated fares.
The warning comes after the department received a surge of complaints regarding overcharging, particularly on bus routes operating from Kathmandu to the Far-Western Region of Nepal.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, the department has stated that transportation entrepreneurs found guilty of charging excessive fares face severe action, including the cancellation of their route permits.
The department has intensified monitoring efforts ahead of the major festive season, during which demand for long-haul buses typically peaks.
