Oct 04, Kathmandu - Heavy rainfall since Saturday morning has led to the suspension of all domestic flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

The persistent adverse weather conditions have caused flight operations to be suspended at several key airports across the country, including Kathmandu, Bharatpur, Janakpur, Bhadrapur, Pokhara, and Tumlingtar, according to TIA General Manager Hangsa Raj Pandey.

"The weather situation is currently being reviewed," Pandey stated. "International flights are continuing, but domestic flights have been halted for the time being because it would be risky to operate them in the current continuous rainfall."

The domestic flight sector has been heavily impacted by the incessant rain that has been falling in Kathmandu and various other parts of the country since early morning, as confirmed by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The department has already issued a warning for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for both today and tomorrow, noting that the intensity is expected to be even higher during the night hours.
