Nepali Flag Spotted as Protests Erupt in Georgia Over Political Demands

Oct 05, Kathmandu - Nepalese have also been found to have participated in the protests in Georgia. The youth there surrounded the Presidential Palace yesterday with a five-point demand. The Nepali flag was also seen in the protest.

The Georgian Dream Party is currently leading the government in Georgia. However, international media outlets have reported that there is extreme dissatisfaction among the opposition parties and citizens with the government's performance.

The protesters are demanding that the ruling party should hold new elections since the last election was rigged, that the repression against journalists and party workers who spoke out against the government should stop, that they should become members of the European Union, and that the leaders who were arrested in retaliation should be released and parliamentary elections should be held. Some people participating in the protest can also be seen in public photos and videos carrying the Nepalese flag.

It is not considered diplomatically natural for the flag of another country to be seen at a protest in any country. Last year, in Falgun, a question was raised when some people showed a picture of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yogi Atityanath in the crowd that came to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah at Tribhuvan Airport. It was analyzed that the monarchist power has become active according to India's interests.

Now, after the Nepali flag was seen in Georgia as well, diplomats there have started analyzing the influence of foreign countries. Georgian media have even said that foreign countries have incited young people to surround the presidential palace.
