Oct 07, Kathmandu - CPN-UML youth leader Suhang Nembang has demanded that the government immediately declare Ilam a 'distressed area' and operate regular flights from Falgunanda Sukilumba Airport for relief and rescue following the widespread damage caused by incessant rains in the district. Nembang made this demand through social media, drawing attention to the current situation in Ilam.
The ongoing rains have caused a huge loss of life and property in Ilam district. Main roads are blocked, electricity supply has been disrupted, and life has been completely disrupted.
According to Nembang, landslides, road collapse, and communication disruptions have posed serious challenges to relief and rescue operations. Based on this critical situation and the decision and recommendation of the District Disaster Management Committee, he has urged the government to immediately declare the district a crisis area.
Similarly, the geographical difficulties and road blockages between the district center and the capital have also hampered the movement of essential relief materials, medicines, and mass communication.
To ensure immediate supply of relief materials, Nembang has drawn the attention of the concerned bodies to operate regular flights from Falgunanda Sukilumba Airport.
