Oct 09, Kathmandu - More than 800 firearms remain unaccounted for after being looted during the Gen-Z Movement protests across Nepal on Bhadra 23-24. While over 1,100 weapons were stolen, authorities have recovered and returned over 300 of them. Nepal Police has formed a dedicated committee to investigate and locate the missing arms.
During the nationwide Gen-Z Movement demonstrations held on Bhadra 23 and 24, over 1,100 weapons belonging to the Nepal Police were reportedly looted by protesters. Among those, more than 300 firearms have since been recovered and returned to security authorities. However, a significant number exceeding 800 weapons remain unaccounted for and are believed to still be missing.
Nepal Police's Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire confirmed that a special committee has been established to trace the missing weapons and conduct a thorough investigation. The ongoing efforts aim to recover all looted arms to ensure security and prevent misuse.
