Oct 10, Kathmandu - President Ram Chandra Poudel is set to go on a visit to Qatar in the third week of Kartik, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun preparations for the trip. The invitation was extended by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who invited the President to attend the upcoming United Nations Social Development Summit scheduled from October 18 to 20 in Doha.
Sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that initial arrangements for the President's visit are underway. However, the Cabinet's formal decision regarding the visit is yet to be made.
This upcoming visit marks a significant diplomatic engagement, especially considering Emir Al Thani's state visit to Nepal in April 2024, during which multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed between Nepal and Qatar. The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and further cooperation between the two nations.
