Oct 10, Kathmandu - The signature campaign for the special general convention is ongoing in the Nepali Congress. Signatures were also being collected from Dadeldhura, the home district of President Sher Bahadur Deuba, for the special general convention.
Six of the general convention delegates there had already signed. But Congress sources have informed that they withdrew their signatures under pressure.
“First, six general convention delegates signed, but later they were pressured. Now, the rest have been stamped. Only one has signed,” the source said.
The signature copy received by Bahrakhari bears the signature of only Janak Chataut from Dadeldhura. The signatures of the remaining five have been stamped. Congress general secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma are continuing the signature campaign for the special general convention.
According to information given by their close associates, preparations are underway to collect the signatures of at least 50 percent of the general convention delegates.
