Partial Israeli Troop Withdrawal from Gaza

Oct 10, Kathmandu - The announcement of a ceasefire and hostage release agreement between Israel and Hamas has brought joy to the people of Gaza.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have begun a partial withdrawal from some areas of Gaza.

Gaza residents told the BBC that Israeli forces have withdrawn from the northwestern outskirts of Gaza City, back towards the Yellow Line in the east. The Israeli army took the step as part of the agreement.

However, armored vehicles and tanks are deployed in many areas where Israeli forces will withdraw under the agreement. This includes Khan Yunis in southern Gaza and the coastal area.

Locals said tanks deployed in the coastal area opened fire on Friday morning, preventing hundreds of displaced people from returning to their homes north along Rashid Street.

Despite the ceasefire announcement, explosions were heard in parts of northern and southern Gaza on Friday. They said it was still unclear when the ceasefire would formally take effect and when it would be safe to return home.
