Nepal Telecom's 4G Service Reaches Tilicho Base Camp in Manang

Oct 17, Kathmandu - Nepal Telecom's 4G service has also reached Tilicho Base Camp. On Friday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel and Field Engineer Neeraj Gupta formally launched the 4G service through a video call via 4G.

With the launch of 4G service in Tilicho, it will be easier for locals as well as trekkers. Tilicho itself is one of the most popular trekking routes in the country.

Hikers reaching Tilicho have been falling ill due to the cold. It is expected that the 4G service will help in rescuing the sick after it is operational and communication connectivity is established.

Minister of Communications Kharel thanked Nepal Telecom for working towards the goal of establishing communication connectivity in remote areas of the country. Field Engineer Gupta said that electronic payments are also being made in the Tilicho area and said that problems were faced due to lack of a good network, but now with the 4G network being operational, electronic payments will also be made easier.

Telecom is rapidly bringing 2G and 4G services to remote and isolated places in Manang district. Telecom had brought 4G services to Bajhang's Talkot Rural Municipality-Bungadanda from Thursday.

Telecom was providing 2G services through V-SAT technology in Ward No. 1 Pisang, Ward No. 3 Bal, Ward No. 8 Tanki Manang and Ward No. 9 Khangsar of Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality. Since it is a very important area from a tourism perspective, it is difficult to provide quality service through V-SAT technology due to pressure from locals and businessmen, Telecom has brought 4G services to those areas from 4 Asoj.
