One Died, Two Injured as Car Falls 42 Feet on BP Highway While Heading from Biratnagar to Kathmandu

Oct 28, Kathmandu - One person died and two others were injured in a car accident on the BP Highway in Chainpur on Tuesday morning.

According to the Area Police Office Khurkot, the car (Ba 7 Cha 7554) driven by 65-year-old Om Bahadur Arjil of Biratnagar-17, Morang, fell about 42 feet off the road at around 11:15 am while it was heading towards Kathmandu from Biratnagar.

Arjil was declared dead by doctors at 12:20 pm due to serious injuries sustained in the accident. His wife, 49-year-old Sunita Arjil, and son, 31-year-old Nishant Arjil, were injured.

Police said that Sunita suffered injuries to various parts of her body, including her right hand, and her condition was serious, while Nishant suffered injuries to his right hand and her condition was moderate.

Both the injured have been sent to Dhulikhel Hospital for further treatment after initial treatment.

After receiving the news of the accident, a joint police team was deployed under the command of Area Police Office Khurkot Chief Police Inspector Ram Kaji Karki and Assistant Police Inspector Dharmaraj Phuyal.

Police said that the injured were immediately rescued and taken to the nearby Aatmiya Community Hospital, Khalte.

According to the police, the car involved in the accident is at the scene and further investigation into the incident is underway.
