Oct 28, Kathmandu - Nepalese living in Israel have contributed one million rupees to the Physical Infrastructure Construction Fund. The one million rupees collected under the leadership of the Non-Resident Nepali Association and the National Coordination Council of Israel have been deposited in the fund.
After the Nepal government called for contributions to the fund, NRNA Israel also appealed for support. The amount raised after the appeal was deposited into the fund through the Nepali Embassy in Israel.
During the Gen-Z movement in Nepal on Bhadra 23 and 24, various government and private structures were set on fire, vandalized and looted. The Ministry of Finance had set up a fund appealing for assistance for its reconstruction, economic revival and relief.
Nepalese living abroad have also been contributing financially to the fund. Nepali embassies and missions abroad had also appealed to Nepalese living abroad to provide financial assistance. Accordingly, NRN Israel has also collected financial assistance and deposited it in the fund, informed Chitra Bahadur Karki, General Secretary of NRN Israel.
Karki said that Rs 1 million was collected through remittances for the reconstruction of physical structures damaged during the Gen-Z movement. NRN handed over the savings from the Tihar special musical program and the amount collected from the 'Deusi-Bhailo' to the embassy.
Karki said that Nepal has been providing assistance in disasters, social service activities and the difficulties faced by workers working in Israel from time to time. Nepalese living in Israel have also been requested to deposit money directly into the fund.
Everyone has been requested to ensure that the assistance is properly utilized and to be vigilant in preventing such destructive incidents from recurring. NRN has also demanded that anyone involved in anarchic activities be identified and action taken according to the law.
