Technical Glitch Disrupts Foreign Employment Department’s Website and Server, Applications Delayed

Oct 28, Kathmandu - There has been a problem with the website and server Federal Emergency Management Information Systems (FEMIS) of the Department of Foreign Employment.

The department has stated that the IT team is working on the problem. The department's information officer, Tikaram Dhakal, informed that the problem occurred due to the expiration of the website's special certificate. He said that the problem occurred due to high traffic on the server.

"The website's special certificate has expired, but the vendor has informed us that the system is experiencing problems due to user traffic, and the vendor is working on it," Dhakal said.

He said the website could be up and running by this evening, but it could take some time for the server to be up and running. Those applying for work permits are facing difficulties as the server is down.

Even though internal work is being done on the server, the service recipients are not able to submit applications. He says that applications can be submitted until the evening. The department has stated that there was a problem with the server after a sudden surge in applications after the holidays.
