Two More Arrested for Assaulting Police Officers During Gen-Z Movement

Oct 28, Kathmandu - The police have detained two individuals in connection with vandalism and assault on police officers during the Gen-Z movement protest on Bhadau 24. The accused are suspected of damaging a police office and assaulting law enforcement personnel.

The arrestees are 22-year-old Alish Shrestha of Golajhor Rural Municipality, Sindhuli, now residing in Sukedhara, Kathmandu, and 27-year-old Saurabh Tamang of Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, currently living in Manamaiju, Kathmandu. The information was provided by Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki, chief of the Metropolitan Police Office, Rani Pokhari.

According to police, both suspects are alleged to have assaulted Police Constable Uttam Thapa at the Maharajgunj Police Circle, and to have set fire to the police office while also damaging property with stones and bricks. They were taken into custody at the Maharajgunj Police Circle for further investigation.

The police have stated that the detainees are being held as investigations continue. The protest resulted in the tragic loss of life for Police Assistant Inspector Milan Rai and Constable Thapa, who were attacked during the unrest.
