Oct 30, Kathmandu - Meteorologists have said that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in many parts of the country from tonight till tomorrow. Meteorologist Binod Pokharel has said that the low-pressure system is currently far away from Nepal and will be active from tonight.
According to him, due to the influence of Montha, light to moderate rainfall has been occurring in eastern Nepal since yesterday evening and all parts east of Gandaki Province since this morning.
"But, this is just a trailer! The low-pressure system (the core of the cyclone) is still far away from Nepal. There is a good chance that this system will cause heavy rainfall in many places from tonight to tomorrow (Kartik 13 and 14)," Pokharel wrote on social media on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a weather warning for three days (Kartik 13, 14 and 15). The department has urged people to be vigilant as there is a risk of rainfall and snowfall in various parts of the country.
According to the department, all districts of Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces and Gorkha, Nawalparasi and Rupandehi districts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces have been asked to 'remain alert' from tonight.
On Friday, the department put Gorkha on the 'remain alert' list along with all districts of Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces.
On Saturday, Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam and Jhapa districts in the eastern part of Koshi province have been asked to adopt 'vigilance'. The weather is expected to improve in most of the remaining districts.
