Oct 30, Kathmandu - Kamal Gautam, the central Vice President of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), has died while addressing a program organized to protest against the Nepal Electricity Authority's power cuts in industries.
Rupandehi industrialists had announced a protest over the trunk and dedicated line dispute. A sit-in program was organized in front of the NEA's Bhairahawa distribution center on Thursday.
Addressing the program, Vice President Gautam said that it was necessary to take the movement only as a symbol. He said that 25,000 workers were losing their jobs and did not want to lose them. He collapsed before he could finish the sentence with the words.
He died while being taken to Crimson Hospital for treatment, informed Netra Prasad Acharya, president of Siddhartha Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His body has been kept at the hospital.
