Preparations to Move the Ministry of Health to the Singha Durbar Premises

Oct 30, Kathmandu - Preparations have now begun to shift the Ministry of Health and Population to Singha Durbar. The ministry is to be shifted to the vacant land of the Nepal Army Nursing Battalion located to the southwest of the Singha Durbar complex.

Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki informed that a temporary ‘prefab’ building is being constructed on the land. He said, “After the Nepali Army battalion moved to its own building in the north, six prefab buildings are being constructed on the vacant land there. The plan is to paint and carpet the remaining vacant buildings and live in them.”

Spokesperson Budhathoki said that preparations are underway to prepare the structure and move the Health Ministry to Singha Durbar within two weeks and that it will probably be moved from Mangsir 1. "After the new parliament building inside Singha Durbar is constructed, if we get the current parliament secretariat building as a permanent structure for the Health Ministry, we will move there. Discussions are also underway for that," he said.

The Ministry of Health building at Ramshah Path was destroyed by fire during the Genji Movement on Bhadra 24. The Ministry of Health is currently operating from the new building of the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC), located behind the ministry.
