Two Transmen Undergo Breast Removal Surgery to Become Men in TU Teaching Hosital

Oct 30, Kathmandu - Two transmen have undergone breast removal surgery at TU Teaching Hospital.

The hospital's plastic surgery department recently performed breast surgery on these transmen. One of the breast surgeons is from outside the valley and the other is from within the valley.

Despite the demand for gender-affirming surgery to become a transman, the hospital's plastic surgery department has stated that the hospital has not yet started this service due to the complexity in performing the surgery.

For the first time, this hospital has performed a gender-affirming surgery on a transgender (male to female) person.

Most transmen do not have this surgery, and this surgery has not even started in Nepal yet. Other transgender people are undergoing surgery to reduce the size of a man's private part, among other male-looking parts.

"Men come for surgery to reduce their the size of their private part because it is too large," said Dr. Jayanman Shrestha, a plastic surgeon at the Teaching Hospital.
