Government to Not Appoint Ambassador Immediately

Oct 30, Kathmandu - The government has decided not to appoint ambassadors to the countries where they were returned immediately.

Making public the cabinet decision at Singha Durbar on Thursday, government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Jagadish Kharel said that no new ambassadors will be appointed as the current government was formed for an interim period to hold elections.

He mentioned that for now, the embassy's activities will be conducted by the second-level employees of the Nepali embassy in the respective countries.

Spokesperson Kharel said that ambassadors had to be returned from 11 countries based on the role played by the ambassadors in the changed context and their performance evaluation.

Similarly, informing about the cabinet decision, he said that the cabinet has approved Additional Inspector General of Police Rajan Adhikari to participate in the 93rd Interpol General Assembly to be held in Morocco from Mangsir 8 to 11.

Similarly, it has been decided to designate areas to provide access to data in the National Identity Management Information System through an electronic system for foreign employment, court case management, foreign study permit service, immigration, citizenship, social security, prisoner identification, etc. Spokesperson Kharel said.

He informed that the meeting also decided to give prior approval to conduct an organizational and management survey of the Samarjung Company Office under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
