Five Detained for Attempting to Sell Stolen Police Pistol

Oct 31, Kathmandu - Police have arrested five people who were trying to buy and sell police pistols that were stolen on Bhadra 24.

A team deployed from Police Circle Swayambhu arrested five people along with a pistol, a magazine and 15 bullets, informed SP Pawan Bhattarai of District Police Range, Kathmandu.

The person who robbed the police office on Bhadra 24 is Krishna Gurung, 21, a resident of Dhunibeshi Rural Municipality and a resident of Kathmandu.

After his arrest, it was revealed that the pistol had already been sold. He had robbed the pistol on Bhadra 24 in collaboration with Rajan Deula, 25, a resident of German Quarter in Bhagwan Pau, Kathmandu.

The two of them had given the pistol to Akbar Khan, 24, to sell.

Akbar, in turn, sold it to Sumin Shakya, 26, a resident of Bijeshwari, and Prabhat Malla, 38, a resident of Chhetrapati, was the last to buy it. The police have arrested all five of them.

"After one person was selling the other, one person was finally arrested with a weapon," said SP Bhattarai.

The police have initiated an investigation into the arrest of the accused for weapons and ammunition related offenses. The investigation is underway after receiving a six-day remand from the Kathmandu District Court.
