Nine Arrested for Gambling

Oct 31, Kathmandu - Police have arrested nine people while they were gambling in Birtamod, Jhapa. The District Police Office, Jhapa, has informed that they were arrested while they were gambling in a house near the West stand in Ward 4 of Birtamod Municipality.

On Friday morning, a police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Anarmani, arrested Ratan Rajbanshi, 38, of Birtamod-2, Kishore Parajuli, 26, Uttam Shiwakoti, 43, Rajan Thapa, 43, Dambar Basnet, 40, of Birtamod-3, and Diwakar Prasai, 40, of the same place, from the room where Rajkumar Shah, 29, of Barhadashi-4 was staying.

Similarly, those arrested include 36-year-old Rajendra Chaudhary of Birtamod-5, 29-year-old Rajkumar Shah of Bahradashi-4, and 28-year-old Narayan Parajuli of Mechinagar-2. Seven unopened and one opened deck of playing cards, along with Rs 75,600 in cash, were recovered from their possession, said Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Jhapa.
