Nov 01, Kathmandu- More than 700 people have been killed in violence in Tanzania since disputed general elections.
The opposition party Chadema said on Friday that hundreds of people had been killed in clashes across the country. The United Nations, citing reliable sources, confirmed the death toll at ten. Chadema spokesman John Kitoka said about 350 people had been killed in Dar es Salaam alone and more than 200 in the Mwanza region.
The figure for other regions is around 700. The party says the figure is based on hospital visits. The government has not yet released any official figures. Tanzanian Foreign Minister Mahmud Thabit Kombo has denied that excessive force was used.
