Nov 03, Kathmandu- President Ram Chandra Poudel has left for Qatar. Poudel left for Qatar from Tribhuvan International Airport at 9:10 am today to participate in the 'Second World Summit for Social Development' to be held in Doha.
President Poudel will lead a 12-member Nepali delegation in this important conference to be held from November 18 to 20.
President Poudel is participating in this summit at the special invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. According to Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amrit Bahadur Rai, President Poudel is scheduled to address the main session of the conference on Kartik 18.
This will provide an opportunity to present Nepal's vision and commitment in the field of social development on the international stage.
This conference, which is being held again after a gap of about 30 years as decided by the United Nations General Assembly, is expected to give a new direction to the global social development agenda. Earlier, the first summit was held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1995.
During his visit to Qatar, President Poudel is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with various heads of state and dignitaries, including the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
It is believed that these meetings will further strengthen the relations between Nepal and friendly countries and help explore new dimensions of cooperation on common challenges and opportunities for social development.
