If a video is uploaded in a resolution lower than 1080p, YouTube’s AI model will recognize it and upscale its quality to HD or 4K.

How will the ‘Super Resolution’ feature work?

YouTube’s AI system will automatically detect the quality of the video. When it detects a low resolution in a video, the feature will use an AI model to upscale it so that the video looks clearer and sharper.

According to the company, initially, this feature will focus on converting SD videos to HD. Later, it is planned to expand it to 4K resolution. YouTube has also clarified that this process will be fully automatic, but creators will be given the option to turn off this feature for their videos. Content creators who want to show their videos in their original quality will be able to do so.

The biggest feature of this feature is that viewers will be able to choose the video quality according to their preference. They can watch upscaled videos labelled 'Super Resolution' or watch videos in original quality if they wish. This will also give a new upgrade to older video content and provide a better visual experience to the user, especially in those videos whose recording quality was old or of low resolution.

Along with the AI ​​feature, YouTube has also announced a new feature for short video creators. The company has partnered with Adobe so that YouTube Shorts can now be easily edited in Premiere Pro and other Adobe tools. Adobe recently announced at its event in California that iPhone (iOS) users will now be able to edit Shorts videos directly with the help of the Premiere Pro app. This will simplify the video editing process and provide creators with the convenience of shooting to editing on a single platform.

This move by YouTube will not only improve video quality but will also make old videos relevant again. There are millions of videos on the platform that were uploaded in low resolution. Now they will also look like new. Similarly, new features related to shorts and editing will strengthen YouTube in competition with platforms like Reels and TikTok.
