India Celebrates Historic Win as Indian Women's Cricket Team Wins First Ever ICC Women's World Cup Title

Nov 03, Kathmandu - India celebrates after the Indian women's cricket team won the ODI World Cup.

India celebrated its first ever title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final in Mumbai on Sunday. The nation was in a state of jubilation after the Indian team lifted the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 trophy for the first time in history.

Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the all-round talent of Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma embodied India's success. The bowlers' control of their performance in the final overs was considered an unforgettable victory.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team and called the victory a "proud moment for every Indian".

From Delhi to Mumbai and Lucknow to Chennai, fans celebrated with fireworks, chants of 'Bharat, Bharat' and hoisting flags. Cricket supporters hailed the victory as the beginning of a new era for women's cricket in India.

India had played in the final twice before but had not won the title. South Africa had made it to the final for the first time.
