Nov 04, Kathmandu - Healthcare workers from private hospitals in Madhesh Province staged a protest by blocking the Janakpur-Dhalkebar road at Ramanand Chowk. The protest, now in its third day, involves eight key demands related to their working conditions and employment rights.
The protesting healthcare workers are demanding adherence to government salary standards, replacement of contractual staff with permanent appointments through the Public Service Commission, health insurance and safety measures, and a reduction in weekly working hours to 42 hours in private hospitals.
Rambinay Thakur, a healthcare worker, stated that despite repeated notices from the Ministry of Health, private hospitals have failed to implement the directives. He further mentioned that efforts to draw attention from the District Administration Office, Ministry of Labour, Chief Minister’s Office, and Ministry of Health have not yielded any concrete action, leading to the ongoing protest.
