Nov 04, Kathmandu - The bodies of two Italian climbers who had been missing for the past five days on Pangbari Mountain in Gorkha district have been found.
According to Rajkumar Shrestha, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, the bodies of 67-year-old Stefano Farinato and 37-year-old Alessandro Gaputo from Italy were found at Camp 1 of Pangbari mountain. He informed that the bodies of both were found buried under snow.
Farinato and Gaputo were stranded on their way back from the summit due to snowfall since last Wednesday. Their bodies have been brought to Samagaun by helicopter.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrestha said that 65-year-old Italian citizen Velter Perlino, who was stranded with them on their way back from the Pangbari Himal, was rescued safely by helicopter last Sunday. Shrestha said that Nepali companions Pemba Renji Sherpa, Dawa Chiring Sherpa and Pasang Tamang who were with Perlino were also rescued by helicopter on the same day and sent to Kathmandu for treatment.
