Nov 04, Kathmandu - The Nepal Medical Council has moved forward with the election process. The election is about to be held for one vice-chairman and eight members of the council.
The council has formed an election committee to elect the vice-chairman and members who will be elected through the election as per the act.
According to the Nepal Medical Council Act, there is a provision to elect a vice-chairman and eight members of the council. According to the statement, the council has formed an election committee as per Rules 21A and 21B of the Nepal Medical Council Regulations, 2024.
The formed election committee comprises Prof. Dr. Rabindra Man Shrestha as the Chief Election Officer, Prof. Dr. Jyotitara Manandhar and Dr. Bidur Adhikari as the Election Officers.
According to the council, candidates for the post of vice-chairman must be registered doctors with at least 15 years of experience, while candidates for the eight member posts must be registered doctors with at least 5 years of experience.
All doctors duly registered with the Nepal Medical Council will be eligible to vote in this election. The term of office of the current elected members is from 2078 to 2082, so their term will end on 1st Paush 2082.
According to the council's registrar, Dr. Satish Kumar Dev, the election schedule and other details will be made public soon.
