Nov 07, Kathmandu - The Nepal-India border crossing at Rautahat will be temporarily closed during the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. The District Administration Office of Rautahat announced on Friday that the border point will be closed from 6:00 AM on Kartik 22 to 6:00 AM on Kartik 25.
Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, Chief District Officer of Rautahat, explained that the border will be shut to ensure peace and security during the elections held in Sitamarhi and Eastern Champaran districts of Bihar on Kartik 25. He stated that except for emergency services, all cross-border movement will be completely halted during this period.
According to a coordination meeting between Nepal and India, the border closure is being implemented due to security concerns. Both countries have deployed security personnel in the border area to prevent any unwanted activities and maintain peace during the election period, the Rautahat District Police Office confirmed.
