Nov 09, Kathmandu - Nepali professional tennis player Abhishek Bastola has made a winning start at the UTR Pro Bengaluru Tennis Tournament, which began on Sunday in Bengaluru, India.
Abhishek defeated American player Bikramjeet Singh Chawla in straight sets in the tournament held at the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy. He did not get the result of 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
He is the only player from Nepal to play in the Bangalore Tennis Tournament, which has a prize pool of 20,000 US dollars. Abhishek has participated in 13 UTR Pro Tennis tournaments since 2021. More than 3,000 of the world's top players play in the UTR Pro Series.
Abhishek will compete in the round robin in the tournament that will continue till November 15. Abhishek will now play against his opponent from host India, Parth Agarwal, in the next round.
