Seven Parties Decide to go to Court Against Madhesh Chief Minister Appointment

Nov 10, Kathmandu - Seven political parties in Madhesh Province are going to court to protest the appointment of Saroj Kumar Yadav as Chief Minister.

Nepali Congress, Maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, and Janamat Party have decided to go to court to protest the appointment of Yadav as Chief Minister under Article 168 (3) of the Constitution.

"We held a meeting today. The provincial chief has done an unconstitutional thing," said former Chief Minister and leader of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Jitendra Sonal, "Now we will go to court and the people together."

The seven parties are protesting, saying that the provincial chief appointed a UML party leader as Chief Minister in a hotel while the government was being formed according to Article 168 (2) of the Constitution and support had been gathered accordingly. The seven parties had vandalized the offices of the Chief Minister and the Provincial Chief on Monday. They have locked the Chief Minister’s office.

Provincial Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari had appointed Saroj Yadav as Chief Minister on Monday, setting a date for the previous day. She administered the oath to the Chief Minister at the hotel in Bardibas.
