Nepal Moves to Grant Voting Rights to Abroad Nationals through Law Amendment

Nov 13, Kathmandu - Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal announced that the government is moving forward with legal amendments to grant voting rights to Nepalese living abroad.

Addressing the Federalism Strengthening and National Interests Committee under the National Assembly on Thursday, Minister Aryal stated, “We have initiated the process of amending laws to enable Nepalese abroad to cast their votes.”

He further explained that the Technical Research Institute is working on how to implement this policy effectively. Previously, the Ministry of Home Affairs had sent a draft ordinance proposal to the Election Commission for necessary law amendments, which the commission has already reviewed and provided suggestions on.
