Sri Lankan Team to Stay in Pakistan Despite Bomb Blasts

Nov 13, Kathmandu - The Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced on Thursday that its players have decided to complete the ongoing One-Day International series and the subsequent T20 tri-series in Pakistan. The board also clarified that all upcoming matches will be shifted to Rawalpindi.

The decision came after a suicide bomb attack in Islamabad on Tuesday. The blast killed 12 people and injured 27. Following the incident, at least eight Sri Lankan players had requested to leave Pakistan due to security concerns.

However, Sri Lanka Cricket said the team decided to continue the tour after “close consultation and security assessment” with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The board said that Pakistan had given adequate security assurances to reassure the players.

All matches in the series will now be played in Rawalpindi. Tight security arrangements have been made in Islamabad, near Rawalpindi. Four of the six round-robin matches and the final were initially scheduled to be held in Lahore, but all of them have now been shifted to Rawalpindi.
