Administration Granted Permission for the 'Save Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizens' Campaign Led Prasai For Demonstration

Nov 13, Kathmandu - The administration has not granted permission for the 'Save Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizens' campaign led by medical professional Durga Prasai to hold a demonstration. The campaign was scheduled to be held on Mangsir 7. However, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has stated that permission will not be granted.

The administration has informed the Prasai group that permission for the demonstration will not be granted, citing security reasons. The police have reported to the Home Ministry that the demonstration planned by the Prasai-led group could be chaotic.

The Home Ministry has reached a point where it has refused to grant permission for the demonstration following the police report. The police have made preparations to stop the demonstration by force if anyone tries to demonstrate without permission.

A high-ranking source in the Home Ministry said that the demonstration by the Prasain group will not be allowed. The official said, “In the current situation, permission cannot be granted for security reasons. If anyone tries to take the law into their own hands, we will take appropriate action.”

On Wednesday alone, the Prasai group submitted a 27-point demand letter to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal with various demands. The ministry has stated that the demand letter includes issues ranging from the abrogation of the constitution to the restoration of the monarchy and a directly elected executive prime minister.

In addition, the Prasai group has demanded that loans taken from banks and financial institutions be waived. The 27-point demand also includes the abolition of the provincial structure. Prasai had warned that it would demonstrate across the country in phases from Mangsir 7.
