Women's Kabaddi World Cup after thirteen years, Nepali team bids farewell

Nov 14, Kathmandu - The Nepali team that will play in the second Women's Kabaddi World Cup has been bid farewell. The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) organized a program on Friday to bid farewell to the team.

At the program, NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha urged the players to give their 100 percent in the competition and play for the pride of the country with full dedication.

The Women's Kabaddi World Cup is being held in Mirpur, Bangladesh. Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to be held in India.

The Women's Kabaddi World Cup is being held after 13 years. The first Women's Kabaddi World Cup was held in Patna, India in 2012. India became the first champion of Women's Kabaddi. Iran came second and Japan came third in the tournament.

In the upcoming tournament to be held from November 15 to 25, hosts Bangladesh, defending champions India and Nepal, along with Iran, Japan, Germany, Kenya, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Uganda, Argentina and Indonesia will compete.

Nepal is in Group 'A'. Nepal will play its first match on November 17.

Nepali Kabaddi team officials have expressed confidence that Nepal, which is ranked third in the world rankings, will return home with a great performance and win a World Cup medal.

The team, captained by Manmati Bista, has Jayanti Badu as vice-captain. Other players include Ganga Ghimire, Rabina Chaudhary, Menuka Rajbashi, Manisha Joshi, Srijana Dhanuk, Ashika Kunwar, Sanju Thami, Mina Nepali, Binita Chhetri, Asma Yadav, Shrijana Tharu and Urusa Shakya. The team is coached by Bishnu Dutt Bhatta, coached by Harina Thapa, managed by Sharad Darshandhari and technical officer by Ramesh Chandra Ojha.
