Four Chinese Arrested for Running a Marriage Bureau

Nov 15, Kathmandu - Four Chinese nationals have been arrested on charges of operating a marriage bureau in Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu.

A team of the Immigration Department, deployed on a special tip-off that they were operating a marriage bureau and were on business visas, arrested them and are currently in custody, said Ram Chandra Tiwari, Director General of the Department.

He also informed that they were arrested on Friday evening and are currently under investigation. It has been reported that they are getting young women from poor and disadvantaged families and remote areas married to Chinese citizens and an investigation is underway to find out what is going on in this regard.

It has been revealed that they have even sent some women to China for marriage. The department also said that the arrested include one woman and three men, and some of them have been traveling on different visas for a long time.
