Nov 15, Kathmandu - Chatbot maker OpenAI recently caused a stir in the technology market when it unveiled its first ‘agentic AI’ browser, Atlas.
The announcement sent Google’s stock plummeting, and Google’s market value plummeted by nearly $150 billion.
This hot topic is not just about a new browser, it is a major step towards changing the computing model of the future.
OpenAI is now trying to capture a market that doesn’t really exist yet. That is, ‘Agentic AI’.
The main concept of this technology is that the computer will listen to your commands and do the work itself.
The user only needs to tell it what they want to do and the rest of the process will be done automatically by the system.
OpenAI head Sam Altman aims to expand the technology globally within the next few years, which could once again overtake large companies like Google.
Atlas Browser has all the modern features available in Google Chrome. However, its main feature is its AI assistant. After the user gives any command, this browser automatically performs all the tasks from writing emails to preparing reports. For this reason, this browser is sure to be a big challenge for Google Chrome.
Similarly, soon after Atlas was released, OpenAI made another big announcement. It has acquired the team that created Apple's Shortcuts. This team first created the Workflow app, which was later purchased by Apple and developed into Shortcuts.
